Will be given to all participants! | Will be given to the Winner! |
2005-03-26 [Merriya]: Finally, another one! I so missed out on the last one...I was out of town wandering about XD.
2005-03-26 [liiga]: Woohoo! *starts brainstorming* :D
2005-03-26 [Erestor]: Ooo I'll have to enter!
2005-03-26 [Levoton]: I assume only one entry per person is allowed? ;)
2005-03-26 [Janouk]: Oh, I'm sure the entries of you all will be great! *is all excited* Can't wait!
2005-03-26 [Rennie]: Ahh...fixed that ;) 2 entries per member :)
2005-03-26 [Levoton]: Whee, thanks. :D
2005-03-26 [Charybdis]: Eeep! I am entering this! ^^
2005-03-26 [dilandau]: does it have to be color? i dont have a paint program yet...
2005-03-26 [DarkJenni]: me too!O.o
2005-03-26 [Saffron]: may 1st... ><
2005-03-26 [Leara]: If my scanner gets fixed, I may consider this...but I still absolutly love the first frontpage image...@_@
2005-03-26 [Charybdis]: Is there going to be only one winner? After all, we currently have two, and Elfpack has 3 (..doesn't it?) Will we keep the ones that are there now?
2005-03-26 [Noexistantanymo]: "Note: The winner will be chosen..." Seems like there's only going to be one winner.. And that's me.. >> <<
2005-03-26 [Charybdis]: I know, but I just wondered ^^
2005-03-26 [Kiristo]: do you need to have a scanner to enter? All I've got is a digi cam.
2005-03-26 [War Tactics]: yay! sounds like fun il give it a sho
2005-03-26 [Leara]: Well...digi cam quaility is poor, especially if the image is going to be used on the front page, so I'd say something taken with a cam would have less of a chance. You should probaly track down someone you know that owns a scanner, and ask them to scan your image for you.
2005-03-27 [vagabond faery]: I think I'll give it a shot, but I don't know if I will make the deadline. I always throw away pictures after they draw them.
2005-03-27 [Rennie]: 1) Color is unimportant; matter is the only thing that matters. 2) Yes we will still continue to use the current frontpages, this will only add a third one. and 3) The deadline is currently permanent, barring lack of entries. :)
2005-03-27 [Sagacious Turkey]: I'm going for a "turkey town" kinda picture...
2005-03-27 [Cougar]: Would Team Entries be allowed?
2005-03-27 [organicparadox]: good question. anyone want to collab with me?
2005-03-27 [Cougar]: .> i wouldn't be of much help but i would love to organic
2005-03-27 [Rennie]: Team entries are allowed in this contest.
2005-03-27 [Cougar]: whoot!
2005-03-27 [Iron-Man-429]: i'm entering
2005-03-27 [Wes Foxx]: Hm, cant figure out how to make this the right size >< what else to add to widen it? (im just using this as a preliminary sketch)
2005-03-27 [dilandau]: put a # like 100 right after the IMG in the URL
2005-03-27 [Sagacious Turkey]: that would make it bigger... not wider...
2005-03-27 [Sagacious Turkey]: and it's "?y=100", not just "100"
2005-03-27 [organicparadox]: define your question. are you asking what could be put in the image to make it a landscape scene, or are you talking filesize dimensions? good questions produce good answers
2005-03-27 [Sunrose]: [Sagacious Turkey]: no it's not. You can also make the width by writing <img100:ur
2005-03-27 [Wes Foxx]: yes. Ive never been good at creating backgrounds with very much in them and i think something on the main page needs to feel less empty.
2005-03-27 [toycar]: hmm.. im thinking i might try out for this... just...not to sure what to draw as of yet...o.o
2005-03-27 [liiga]: [Wes Foxx], a suggestion - when you draw something for a specific format, make sure your drawing area (paper, in this case) is in the same shape as what the end result should be. Then figure out where your horizon will go, and do a bunch of thumbnail sketches, trying out different scenes. Don't make the mistake and start with character and then try to twist the background in the right shape for the end format. It's extreeeeemely hard.
2005-03-27 [Wes Foxx]: well thats what i did with this, took a concept i liked and made a sketch, it wasnt originally going to be for mainstreet, the contest opened just a few days after i finished
2005-03-27 [Wes Foxx]: otherwise i would have used something bigger, though im wondering what size paper would fit the perameters for the contest
2005-03-27 [liiga]: Oh, that explains it. Well to start with, you want something that's more wide than high for sure. :P So, roughly, an A4 size sheet held as landscape would probably fit.
2005-03-27 [Wes Foxx]: if i was an experienced artist id know what A4 size paper looked like =P
2005-03-27 [Levoton]: Normal printer paper. ;)
2005-03-27 [Wes Foxx]: basically an 8.5X11?
